"My son, Alex, really loves the lessons! It is so neat to see him playing piano all the time instead of playing video games!"
"We've had our kids enrolled for over a year now and have seen them make amazing progress..."
"When I started lessons I had some experience but no formal training. The lessons are very fun and I am learning a lot of things including technique and theory that I would never have learned on my own. Joey is an excellent teacher and I'm lucky to have found him!"
My teaching philosophy is based in the belief that learning music should be fun and exciting! I always encourage my students to pursue the kind of music that they find most appealing. Rather than using the same curriculum and method book, I work with each of my students to develop a unique curriculum centered around their individual interests and goals. I enjoy working with students of all ages and skill levels!
I teach private lessons full time and have had the privilege of working with hundreds of students ranging from raw beginners with no experience to advanced players seeking specialized training. If you are looking for someone who is experienced, versatile, easy going, and supportive then contact me today!
My specialties include:
- Guitar and piano instruction (acoustic and electric)
- All genres of music including rock, blues, jazz, classical, and pop
- Improvisation that incorporates scales, modes, and arpeggios
- Songwriting, composition, and arranging
- Theory (chord structure, melody, harmony, and chord progressions)
- Music notation (traditional notation, jazz notation, and tablature)
